Designing Tomorrow Today…

A future forward design approach

At [CON]CEPT, design is more than just a form—it’s an experience.

Fusing innovative ideas with the realities of everyday life, designs are grounded in reinterpretations of the expected and familiar - [con]textual, [con]temporary, and challenging of preconceived [con]structs. The result is a final product that is both visually refined and [con]ceptually driven.

Specializing in architecture, interiors, and furniture design, [CON]CEPT aims to create spaces that are inspired by your unique story and purposefully crafted to offer individual character themselves.

[Con] - (Prefix): with or together

Each detailed design approach is led with a unique perspective, tailored to the specific needs and aspirations of each client. It does not design for you, it designs with you. Striving to challenge the status quo, the limits of creativity are pushed while also ensuring a collaborative process that keeps your wishes at the forefront.

Welcome to [CON]CEPT, where imagination takes shape

Nathan Karlsen [Founder]

Nathan is a designer with a passion for the ways in which concepts can be translated across all scales. Alongside professional practice, he formed [CON]CEPT as a separate research entity to explore new ideas and create a tangible space to dream. Throughout these explorations, his work has gained various recognitions, including being named a finalist for the Rotch Travel Scholarship [2022, 2024, 2025] and a recipient of the AIA Henry Adams Medal for his thesis titled “[Con]Temporary Urbanism: Performative Architecture”. After graduating with a Master of Architecture from Wentworth Institute of Technology, he has practiced at industry-leading firms in New York, working on high-end residential and commercial interiors, ground-up residences abroad, and the reimagining of iconic New York landmarked high-rises. Throughout all his work, he carries a honed cognizance of architectural poetics and visual storytelling.
